Creative Ideas!

Today we went off in groups to think and come up with different ideas we can use to perform to the targetted audience of 14 - 15 year olds about abuse. I was a group with my class mates and we sat and thought of creative ways to show a piece of domestic abuse. Firstly we went away and researched what actually goes on with domestic abuse and how people suffer from it. We also got satistics and plenty of information from people who have been abused. We found out that the main focuse was abusive relationships.

After we researched Penny then went away and created a script and gave each person their role. I was lucky enough to be given one of the lead roles along with Charles. When i went away i was able to find out plenty of chararistics about my role. I was able to understand that my character 'Imogen' is in an abusive relationship with her father. She is at the age of 17 and has convienced herself that the only reason why she gets beaten up is becuase that is what people do when they are in love. After i read my script i questioned myself based on my character where they were, why they are there, who they are and what they are doing. I went home and did extra researched on how specifically women behave when they are being abused so it helps me settle into the character more easily. By doing this research on how people mainly females act whilst or have been in an abusive relationship really helped becuase i was able to get a better idea on what i'm doing and it also helped me become more connected with my character. At first i thought since i've only just joined the class having one of the main roles for this peice already wouldn't go well but i was wrong becuase as i am adapting to my character i'm finding it much more easier to act just exactly as the character Imogen would.
